How an Adjustable Bed Frame Is Made: Inside the Workshop

Buyers often ask what happens between a purchase order and a finished adjustable frame. This guide walks through three stages filmed in the Kang Cai workshop in Dongguan: cutting board parts on a CNC router, assembling the steel frame, and covering. It also lists what the clips do not show, so you know which questions to put to any supplier.

Cutting Board Parts on a CNC Router

Plywood sheets are stacked beside the machine, and an operator slides each sheet onto the infeed table. The router is a MARS model run from a touchscreen, and a dust extraction hose sits above the cutting head. A sliding table panel saw stands in the same hall for straight cuts. Board parts cut this way are used across the Kang Cai range.

What to ask: which parts are cut by CNC and which by saw, and whether cut parts are checked against a drawing before they move on.

Assembling the Steel Frame

Two operators lay the black steel frame out flat on a padded workbench, fit the brackets and linkage parts, and fasten them with power tools. Fasteners and tools are kept on the bench within reach. Working flat on a padded surface protects the finish while the frame is built.

What to ask: the fastener type and count at each joint, how moving parts are checked for clearance, and whether the factory can send assembly photos for each batch.

Covering and Finishing the Surface

Covering is done in a separate area on a yellow-framed table. An operator works with black cover material while boards and foam are stacked within reach.

What These Clips Do Not Show

These clips do not cover motor and control installation, load and endurance testing, final inspection or packing. We have not filmed those stages yet. If they matter to your order, ask for the test method and the report, and use the sample approval checklist before you approve production.

Questions to Ask Any Adjustable Bed Factory

  • Which parts are cut in-house, and on which machines?
  • How are cut parts checked before assembly?
  • Which fasteners are used, and how are they checked?
  • Where do motor fitting, testing and final inspection happen, and can you see them?
  • Can the factory share dated photos or video from your own batch?

Frequently Asked Questions

How is an adjustable bed frame made?

Board parts are cut on a CNC router and panel saw, steel frame sections are assembled on a workbench with brackets and fasteners, and the surface is covered. Motor fitting, testing and packing follow; these clips do not show them.

What machine cuts the boards?

A MARS CNC router, controlled from a touchscreen and fitted with dust extraction. A sliding table panel saw handles straight cuts.
